India:Population control measures deemed non-urgent for now

There is no urgency for India to take population control measures because the country is already witnessing a decline in its population growth rate. Couples not only desire but also have fewer children than earlier, says Ms Poonam Muttreja, executive director of Delhi-based non-profit Population Foundation of India.
