COVID-19 risk:Global output could drop by $8.5tn

United Nations secretary general Antonio Guterres has said that the COVID-19 pandemic will lead to 'unimaginable devastation and usher in hunger and famine of historic proportions', ultimately leading to a loss of $8.5tn in global output, according to a report in the Economic Times. This is the most extreme contraction since the Great Depression of the 1920s, unless nations around the world respond with unity and solidarity.
