Australia:Dai-ichi Life to gain market edge & earnings on acquisition of Westpac insurance unit

Dai-ichi Life Holdings, the parent of Japan-based The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, will strengthen its position as the largest life insurer in Australia after signing an agreement with Westpac Banking Corporation to acquire 100% of subsidiary Westpac Life Insurance Services for about JPY100bn ($906m), Fitch Ratings says.
