Vietnam allocated nearly VND 549tn (approximately $21bn) to social welfare initiatives in the first half of 2025, providing timely and effective support to revolutionary veterans, social policy recipients, and social protection beneficiaries, according to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.
By June 25, leaders from central and local governments, along with representatives from agencies, mass organisations, and generous individuals, had delivered gifts worth VND 16.8tn to social protection beneficiaries.
In the first half of the year, VND 3.2tn was allocated to support poor and near-poor households and those experiencing hardship. A further VND 20.6tn was provided to individuals who contributed to the revolution and their families.
Social insurance agencies distributed more than 27.1m health insurance cards, booklets, and free medical care cards to eligible beneficiaries nationwide.
Additionally, local governments disbursed VND 507.7bn in emergency and one-off assistance.
