Indonesia:Regulator appoints women from MSMEs as ambassadors for financial literacy

Indonesia's regulator, the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) conducted a training course for woman as part of its measures to promote financial literacy among women and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as priority segments in the 2021-2025 National Strategy on Financial Literacy.

According to OJK chief executive of market conduct supervision, education and consumer protection Friderica Widyasari Dewi, women in the MSME sector has proven to be a major player.

“Women are drivers of the economy, especially in families/households and the community,” said Ms Friderica.

“Indonesian Businesswomen Association (IWAPI) members are mostly MSME women entrepreneurs, which are included in our priority segment.”

She also emphasised financial education improvement among Indonesian women to increase common welfare and promote responsible financial inclusion.
