Insurance consumers' grievances in India are rising and have surged by 45% in the second quarter of 2025 according to a new report.
The new insurance grievances trends report by insurance grievance redressal platform Insurance Samadhan said the surge indicates that policyholders are becoming more assertive and the insurers are yet to take any action on the structural flaws in how insurance is sold and serviced in India.
The report reveals that the customers in the younger age-groups are the most active in disputing claims and policies.
The report said there were 684 complaints in the first quarter of 2025 while the second quarter saw these rise to 974, a surge of 45%. The report findings indicate that mis-selling and claim disputes were common complaints. The value of contested claims registered an increase of 43%. Policyholders aged 31 to 40 were the most active in filing complaints.
