Sompo insurance has expanded its travel insurance service to a number of countries in Asia following a successful rollout in Thailand.
The insurer has launched Sompo Smart Delay service in Singapore, mainland China and Malaysia. The insurer has partnered with Collinson International for this service, which allows travellers to access over 1,800 airport lounges whenever their flights are delayed.
Customers must register their flights a few hours before departure and, in case of a delay, receive a digital voucher granting immediate lounge access or other options such as spa sessions or restaurant discounts, without the need for a claims process.
According to Collinson, over 54m travellers in the APAC region have experienced flight delays of more than an hour in the first half of 2025.
