PRISM launches in Singapore and Hong Kong

PRISM, a newly founded managing general agent (MGA), has officially launched in Singapore and Hong Kong, backed by seasoned industry professionals and specialty insurer and reinsurer Convex, as well as Efinity Insurance Solutions (EIG). A press release from PRISM stated that the company opened for business on 18 December.

PRISM aims to combine underwriting talent with technology, data, analytics, and strong balance sheets to serve insurance and reinsurance clients, specialising in Marine Cargo, Onshore Energy, Power, and Renewable sectors. A phase two expansion in the first quarter will add Facultative Property and Political Violence/Terrorism coverage.

Founding team

PRISM is led by a team with extensive experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors across Asia. Its CEO and CUO, Bobby Heerasing, has spent over 30 years with firms including RSA, Catlin, XL Catlin, ACR, and Sirius Point. He previously served as CUO for Catlin Asia Pacific / XL Catlin, overseeing both insurance and reinsurance operations, and most recently held the role of Head of International Distribution at Sirius Point while actively underwriting at Lloyd’s Syndicate 1945.

PRISM’s COO, Jason Smith, brings three decades of industry experience, having worked with Transatlantic Re, Catlin, XL Catlin, Leadenhall Asia, and Efinity Asia. He is a former CEO of Leadenhall Asia and a property and treaty underwriting specialist with over 20 years in the Asia Pacific region.

PRISM’s CFO, Sergei Korol, is a former APAC CFO at Chubb Life and has also served as Group CFO/COO at ACR—leading its sale to Catalina—and as CFO of Grab’s fintech arm. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Strategic partnerships

PRISM has established two key strategic partnerships to support its growth and operations. Convex acts as the company’s exclusive underwriting partner, providing expertise and capacity in underwriting, claims management, reserving, and portfolio oversight. Meanwhile, Efinity Insurance Solutions (EIG) delivers the operational, analytical, and platform support necessary to enhance efficiency and scalability across PRISM’s business.
