Nepal:Government removes mandatory stamp requirement for insurance documents

| 11 Feb 2026

The Nepal Insurance Authority has removed the mandatory stamp requirement for insurance documents.

The government of Nepal has been increasingly focusing on digitilisation to reduce administrative costs and in December 2025 took a decision to abolish revenue stamps, except where legally required.

Insurance companies and intermediaries have also followed suit and have stopped the physical usage of postage stamps on service-related documents and to align insurance operations with modern electronic transaction standards.
