Thailand's Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has published statistics on individual and corporate insurance agents and brokers for 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, while reiterating its focus on strengthening oversight of insurance intermediaries to safeguard consumer interests.
As of 31 March 2026, the market comprised 244,048 insurance agents, 2,318 agency offices, 321,759 individual insurance brokers and 736 corporate insurance brokers, according to OIC data.
The OIC noted that the composition of insurance intermediaries differs by business segment, with insurance agents playing a larger role in the life insurance market, while individual and corporate brokers are more prominent in the non-life sector.
Applications for individual insurance agent and broker licences fell to 104,884 in 2025, down 11.31% from the previous year. The decline continued into the first quarter of 2026, with 19,408 applications recorded, representing a 13.40% year-on-year decrease. The trend suggests a slowdown in the number of new entrants joining the profession.
