Hong Kong:Three new participants join the AI cohort programme

| 18 Jun 2026

When Hong Kong's insurance regulator, the Insurance Authority (IA), hosted the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cohort Symposium on 15 June 2026, it also welcomed three insurers as new core participants of the programme.

This brings the total number of core participants to 10 since August 2025.

“Insurers are showing stronger ownership and governance, with greater discipline in choosing use cases that support business value and customer outcomes,” said IA Chairman Stephen Yiu.

“At the same time, Hong Kong’s AI and InsurTech ecosystem has continued to strengthen, with more solution providers bringing capabilities relevant to core insurance functions.”

Mr Yiu also said, “This matters because AI adoption does not happen in isolation. It depends on insurers, technology companies and the broader ecosystem progressing together.”

At the Symposium, core participants shared strategic plans in establishing Centres of Excellence, nurturing AI talents and rolling out AI solutions.

Representatives from Cyberport and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park also highlighted opportunities of cross-sector collaboration, while technology companies introduced their proprietary offerings.
