The Thai regulator, Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), is planning to create a new cadre of "Insurance Scholars" as a part of upgrading the protection system for victims of vehicle accidents in the country.
The Insurance Scholars will help the victims of car accidents access their rights quickly. These scholars will use digital information and technology in their functioning. They will also work on creating unity among the personnel of the Disaster Compensation Fund nationwide.
OIC Secretary General Mr Chuchat Pramunpho made this announcement as a part of his presentation on the policy on Victim Compensation Fund while addressing the opening session of a training programme on "Effective Communication and Coordination".
The programme was held for 146 executives, employees, subject matter experts, and personnel of the Disaster Compensation Fund from both central and regional governments.
It also included a presentation on the development of the role of Insurance Scholars as an important force in driving the mission of the Victim Compensation Fund. The Insurance Scholars will use the Fund’s data to take informed decisions.
They will also ensure integration and cooperation with all sectors to enhance the effectiveness of the protection of people's rights.
Mr Chuchat said, “The strength of the Victims' Compensation Fund is not due to the work system alone, but due to the personnel who have the knowledge, ability, and heart for public service.
He said, “Under the concept of ONE FUND, ONE TEAM, ONE MISSION, the Victims' Compensation Fund can be an important mechanism to protect the country's road users in a stable and sustainable manner, ready to drive the role of OIC from remedies to sustainable loss prevention in the future."
