Vietnam:DBV Insurance fined for unfair competition practices

| 14 Jul 2026

DBV Insurance Group Joint Stock Company has been fined VND200m ($7,700) by Vietnam's National Competition Commission for engaging in unfair competition practices.

The commission, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, found that the insurer had violated the 2018 Competition Law by providing misleading information to customers to attract business from competitors. As a result, the company was ordered to pay an administrative fine of VND200m.

The competition authority found that DBV Insurance had used promotional claims such as "Top 1 Motor Vehicle Insurance" and "Number 1 Motor Vehicle Insurance in Vietnam", which it said were unsubstantiated and likely to mislead customers about the insurer's market position.

In addition to the VND200m fine, the National Competition Commission ordered the insurer to publicly correct the misleading claims on its official website and Facebook page.

DBV Insurance, formerly known as Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation (VNI), rebranded as DBV Insurance Group in May 2025.
