MNK International has appointed Mr William Wakeham as Managing Director of its new international energy division. The new division will focus on selected markets across Asia, alongside other territories, and work with insureds, local brokers and cedants.
In his new role, Mr Wakeham sets up and leads the development of MNK International’s energy broking capabilities across renewable energy, battery storage, data centres, grid infrastructure, conventional energy and energy security.
He also oversees the continued growth of the division’s specialist team and the development of an engineering-led approach to risk. By engaging with clients from the early stages of each project, the team will seek to improve risk allocation, strengthen insurance submissions and help make projects more insurable, bankable and resilient.
Mr Wakeham brings more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, having worked with clients worldwide and developed particular expertise across Africa and the Middle East. His broking career has encompassed major conventional energy and oil and gas projects, alongside a growing focus on renewable energy projects for investors and developers, particularly in Southern Africa.
