Markel Insurance, the insurance operations within Markel Group, has appointed Mr Abbas Choker as CFO, APAC.
In his new role, Mr Abbas is responsible for leading Markel’s APAC finance function and supporting the continued expansion across the region. He will also join the APAC leadership team. His Arabic language capabilities will also support Markel’s business across the Middle East and North Africa.
Mr Abbas brings more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, having held a range of finance leadership roles across APAC, including Australia and multiple Asian markets. Throughout his career, he has led regional finance teams, built and scaled finance capabilities, and also partnered closely with leadership teams to drive commercial success and sustainable financial performance.
He joins Markel from AIG, where he served as Regional Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, APAC.
