At a panel session hosted by the Insurance Authority (IA) at the Belt and Road Summit, corporate executives and risk experts discussed the evolving risk spectrum faced by Chinese Mainland enterprises expanding globally, available risk management tools and how Hong Kong can serve as an 'one-stop' risk advisor.
Titled ‘Architecting a Global Risk Strategy: Hong Kong as the End-to-End Risk Advisor for Globalising Enterprises’, the session showcased Hong Kong’s comprehensive suite of risk management tools to address the challenges the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) faced, and how solutions can be scaled and adapted for both large enterprises and small- to -medium-sized enterprises.
“BRI has evolved from the construction of standalone infrastructure projects to the operation of global business ecosystems, requiring enterprises to adopt proactive and consolidated risk management solutions to tackle the increasingly complex risks,” said IA Executive Director, Policy and Legislation Clement Lau. He was also the moderator of the panel discussion.
“By leveraging Hong Kong’s unique strengths as a global risk management centre with a deep pool of insurance solutions and professional advisory services, we stand ready to support Chinese Mainland enterprises throughout their overseas expansion journey, from risk assessment to executing tailored mitigation strategies.”
Panellists also examined how Hong Kong’s high-value advisory cluster, with expertise in maritime law, trade finance and insurance, delivers a seamless “one-stop” experience.
