SG Re has secured in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore for registration as a general reinsurance broker, and will be commencing operations by October once its registration is complete.

The professional reinsurance platform links global connectivity, actuarial analysis, treaty structuration, local network and understanding their Asia-based clientele, according to a LinkedIn post by the company.

The team is made up of:

  • Mr David Maneval as Chief Analytics Counsel
  • Ms Lee Hee-sook as Head of Treaty
  • Mr Simon Oh as CEO

In his new role, Mr Maneval brings risk analytics from the perspectives of the insurer buying reinsurance, the broker designing the programme and the consultant addressing management, regulatory and risk issues.

He is an actuarial and reinsurance specialist with more than 20 years of experience, having worked with AIG Singapore, Aon Benfields and WTW.

Ms Lee brings more than 20 years of experience in (re)insurance and reinsurance. She began as a property underwriter, went on to handle treaty cessions at a primary insurer and has since spent over a decade as a treaty reinsurance broker.

With experience across underwriting, ceding and broking, she leads SG Re’s treaty business end to end, from structuring proportional and non-proportional treaties to negotiating terms, global placement and post-placement servicing.

As Chairman of Simon Global Group, Mr Oh leads SG Re’s management in its early stage. In his new role, Mr Oh oversees Asia business strategy, client development, the global reinsurer network and decisions on specialist talent and investment, building SG Re into a long-term growth engine for the Group.
