Labuan IBFC has appointed to its Board of Directors Dr Aida Othman as a member and Mr Steven Choy as chairman.
Both appointments are for a two-year term. They currently serve as authority members of Labuan Financial Services Authority.
Dr Aida and Mr Choy bring extensive experience, and their expertise will enhance Labuan IBFC’s market outreach initiatives and support its mission to advance the jurisdiction’s strategic goals.
Dr Aida is a board member of ZICO Shariah Advisory Services. She also provides strategic advice on shariah compliance and governance, with a strong focus on the legal and regulatory frameworks that underpin Islamic finance. She currently serves as a shariah committee member at several Islamic financial institutions.
Mr Choy currently serves as the independent non-executive chairman of Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia.
Mr Choy is also the deputy chairman and a member of both the Audit Committee and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of Deutsche Bank Malaysia. He holds the positions of independent director and chairman of the Risk and Audit Committee at MSM Malaysia Holdings, as well.
In addition, Mr Choy sits on the boards of Zurich General Insurance Malaysia, Hap Seng Plantations Holdings, Bond and Sukuk Information Platform and Asian Banking School. He also serves as a public interest director at the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia.
