Thailand officials met in earlier this month to discuss the feasibility of providing insurance for workers in Bangkok, including municipal officers, drain dredgers, disaster prevention and mitigation officers, rescue workers and volunteer groups in various communities who face risk daily in the course of their work.
The country’s insurance regulator, the Office of the Insurance Commission and the state of Bangkok will jointly draft operational guidelines in various areas, including coverage for government and private property, group insurance for communities and vulnerable groups. The parties will also decide the legal requirements and protection measures to ensure that operations will effectively protect personnel in the Bangkok area.
The aim of the joint discussion is to coordinate closely and continuously, to ensure that the design and implementation of such insurance can improve the quality of life and create peace of mind for frontline personnel and people in Thailand’s capital.
