The Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC), Thailand's insurance regulator, has announced that insurance assistance and compensation have been confirmed in respect of all 161 victims of the crane collapse incident on 14 January.
The confirmed compensation for the deceased includes a royal grant of THB20,000 ($643.60) per family, in addition to other compensations.
The regulator also noted that insurance coverage of medical expenses for the injured totalled over THB583m.
The incident, involving a high-speed rail construction site and a passenger train in Thailand, caused 30 deaths and injured 69 people.
The OIC will monitor and supervise the accurate, complete and timely payment of the insurance compensation and benefits.
