To support its ambitions to take on more insurance programmes across North Asia, HDI Global has announced appointments to its underwriting and distribution leadership there.
- Ms LiLian Lau as Head of Property
- Ms Rebecca Kong as Head of Distribution and Strategic Partnerships
- Ms Rebekah Khew as Head of Marine
The team focusses on opportunities including major property risks across Greater China, specialist marine and cargo business across regional markets and international programmes for North Asian companies expanding overseas. Their combined direct (re)insurance experience will also reinforce HDI Global’s engagement with cedants on fronting and risk-sharing solutions.
Ms Lau brings more than two decades of experience across property, construction, natural resources and risk engineering. Most recently, she led Greater China natural resources and construction at Allianz, with responsibility for underwriting teams in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Her technical grounding and regional market experience will support HDI Global’s approach to major and complex property risks, including closer collaboration between underwriting and risk engineering.
In her new role, Ms Kong leads a more structured, data-driven approach to distribution and strategic partnerships, while strengthening support for North Asian companies with increasingly international insurance requirements.
Ms Kong brings more than two decades of commercial insurance experience across Greater China, with deep expertise in broker and client engagement, multinational programmes and strategic distribution management. She most recently held senior distribution and strategic planning roles at AIG China.
In her new role, Ms Khew leads the development of the marine proposition and deepens relationships with brokers and cedants across North Asia.
She brings 30 years of marine insurance experience, with particular expertise in cargo, project cargo and marine liabilities. She has a strong track record of building and scaling portfolios across regional markets and most recently served as Director, Asia Pacific at Vivace Insurance Partners.
