Agriculture Insurance Company of India's general manager and CRO has been made the officiating CMD of the company. He replaces Mrs T Alamelu who has been appointed a whole time member (non-life) of the IRDAI.
Mr Chaudhary started his career in 1983 as a Manager at the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), an apex development financial institution in India. At NABARD he was involved in several rural projects and focused on the microfinance sector where he has made noteworthy contributions in the state of Rajasthan by promoting more than 100,000 women self-help groups. He was deputed as managing director of the Delhi state cooperative bank from 1994 to 1999. From 1996 to 1998 he was given additional responsibility as officer on special duty to the Chief Minister of Delhi.
He joined AIC in 2006, where he handled important portfolios like pricing, underwriting, claims, human resources, marketing, publicity and legal. He has played an important role in the formulation and development of various crop insurance schemes including the design and implementation of the government’s flagship PMFBY scheme. He has an LLB and LLM degree from the Delhi and Kurukshetra University respectively and an MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
