Almost half (45%) of life insurance policyholders in Bangladesh do not pay premiums after the first year, Mr Mohammad Jainul Bari, chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), has said. About 70% of policies are not renewed at some companies in the second year.
