With the pending acquisition of Resolution Life by Nippon Life, and its eventual merger with Acenda, several independent non-executive directors have been appointed to the board of the Acenda Group, according to news platform Financial Newswire. Namely, they are Ms Catherine Dubé, Mr David Stephen, Ms Melissa Babbage and Ms Rosheen Garnon.
The appointments are subject to the completion of the transaction between Nippon Life and Resolution Life, which is scheduled for 2H2025. It will also be the final product of the ensuing merger between Acenda and Resolution Life Australasia.
Mr Craig Dunn has also been appointed future chair of the Acenda Group, effective Nippon Life’s purchase. Ms Dubé and Mr Stephen will then continue in their capacity as current independent non-executive directors of the MLC Limited Board, with the same for Ms Babbage and Ms Garnon on the Resolution Life Australasia Limited Board.
Current independent director of the MLC Limited Board, Ms Jacqueline Korhonen, will continue in the same capacity until the transaction is finalised, after which the board will be considered a “subsidiary” of the group.
From October 2025, Mr Rodney Cook will also commence as independent non-executive director of Resolution Life Australasia, which will also operate as a subsidiary Board of the Group.
