At the 2025 Arbitration Seminar at Centara Grand Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok, Office of Insurance Commission secretary-general Chuchat Pramulphon emphasised that alternative dispute resolution by arbitration is an important mechanism to protect the rights of insured persons without having to bring a case to court. This helps in quick, economic and appropriate dispute resolution in the context of insurance contracts.
The seminar was organised with the aims of increasing efficiency and supporting academic knowledge in insurance law, as well as disseminating information on new policy conditions.
A further objective was to exchange knowledge to enhance the potential of arbitrators and related personnel, in order to leverage the arbitration process effectively and fairly, in order to gain public confidence, especially in the insurance segment, which is highly complex.
Mr Pramulphon also noted that if the arbitration process is continuously developed in terms of knowledge, law and technology, it will become an important part in helping Thailand create a dispute resolution system that meets international standards and build confidence among insured persons, the business sector and society.
In turn, he indicated that this may lead to a strong, transparent and sustainable insurance system in the future.
“This seminar is another step in developing the dispute resolution system of the OIC to be an efficient mechanism in protecting the rights of the people and supporting the stability of the Thai insurance system sustainably, said Mr Pramulphon.
“Promoting the role of arbitrators under the operation of the OIC is an important mechanism in laying the foundation for a modern civil dispute resolution system with clear criteria and ability to effectively support the complexity of modern insurance contracts.”
He added, “In the long run, the people will be able to access alternative justice processes conveniently and quickly, reduce the burden of expenses and receive fair protection of benefits.”
