Rising demand from strong export performance and sustained economic growth has prompted international insurer Allianz Trade to open its first office in Vietnam, located in the country's financial capital, Ho Chi Minh City. This was announced by the firm in a 22 October 2025 press release.
The announcement follows the appointment of Ly Dao as country manager for Vietnam. She said: “This expansion reinforces our strong commitment to the Vietnamese market and positions us to better serve our partners and customers. We are dedicated to supporting the trade business here, empowering them to grow with confidence through innovative solutions and tailored support. Together, we look forward to driving sustainable success and building lasting partnerships across Vietnam”.
Commenting on the expansion, Allianz Trade in Asia Pacific regional CEO Rodrigo Jimenez said: “We are extremely excited to extend our footprint to Vietnam, the thirteenth location in our portfolio. Apart from increasing our investments in India in 2023, Vietnam has long been on our list for expansion. It is a relatively open economy with a growth model based on trade; it has transformed into a competitive manufacturing hub in recent years; and it continues to shift towards higher value-added sectors. All these factors justify our move into the country”.
According to the company, Vietnam recorded an average GDP growth rate of 7% over three decades leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 4.8% on average between 2020 and 2023. A consumer electronics-led recovery in global trade also supported the country’s manufacturing sector last year, pushing GDP growth to 7.1%.
