Uzbekistan moves back launch date for free care under state insurance

In Uzbekistan, a presidential decree, dated 30 December 2025, has moved back the launch date of free planned inpatient care under state health insurance by six months.

According to an article on digital news platform KUN.UZ, the decree amends a prior presidential resolution dated to 5 September 2024, which covers free planned inpatient medical care under state health insurance, that was to begin 1 January 2026.

The article also noted that the free planned inpatient medical care is granted to:

  • Individual income tax or social taxpayers.
  • Individuals who have paid the established amounts of taxes required for the calculation of work experience, in accordance with the Tax Code.
  • Minors, school pupils and students, pregnant women, individuals caring for children under the age of two
  • Registered unemployed persons and pensioners.
  • Members of low-income families included in the state social protection registries.
