Motor insurers that fail to grant discounts for car owners who install CCTV cameras in their vehicles will face a fine, according to the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC).
The insurance regulator launched a programme in March to encourage car owners to install cameras in their cars with the discount on their insurance premium as an incentive.
Mr Suthipol Taweechaikarn, the OIC’s Secretary-General, said that car owners who install cameras should get a discount of between 5% and 10% on the motor insurance premium.
The OIC said that cameras in vehicles would promote road safety and more disciplined driver behaviour. A
