Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is the first university globally to deliver a preparatory course for the RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) certification in collaboration with RIMS (the Risk Management Society).
The other two universities which have a similar partnership with RIMS are the University of Toronto (Canada) and Yeshiva University in New York (USA). While the course is now available to students at NTU, where it was launched at the start of 2018, the University of Toronto and Yeshiva University plan to open registration in September 2018.
With this collaboration, risk professionals around the world will have a better opportunity to attain RIMS-CRMP, said RIMS in a statement last week.
“The RIMS-CRMP offers undeniable opportunities for risk professionals to showcase their industry knowledge and commitment to professional development,” said RIMS CEO Mary Roth. “The Society is proud to work with these universities, to support them through the development and implementation processes and to continue to provide the world’s risk management community with advantages to excel professionally.”
With RIMS support, the universities’ courses will align with the five domains tested on the RIMS-CRMP exam. Those domains include:
1. Analyzing the Business Model
2. Designing Organizational Risk Strategies
3. Implementing the Risk Process
4. Developing Organizational Risk Competency
5. Supporting Decision Making
The RIMS-CRMP certification is the only risk management certification in the world to hold accredited status. It received official accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under ISO/IEC 17024:2012 in late 2017.
The ANSI Accreditation of RIMS-CRMP signifies that the Institute recognises the competence of RIMS to carry out certification activities in accordance with requirements defined in international standards and confirms approval by government and peer review assessments.
RIMS has developed opportunities to prepare interested risk professionals for the RIMS-CRMP exam. RIMS in-person RIMS-CRMP prep workshops will be held in Montreal, Canada on October 31st and November 1st, and in New York on November 13th and 14th. The course is also available online.
