India:Girnar licenced to operate motor insurance broking platform

Girnar Software has received a licence from IRDAI to launch an insurance vertical with its core focus on motor insurance under the name Girnar Insurance Brokers.

The insurance broking platform will be a complete package for all insurance related services. Customers can buy insurance, locate cashless services garages, settle claims and check documents on it, reported The Economic Times.

The platform will be unlike the current leads-based system available in partnership with Coverfox and PolicyBazaar on CarDekho's platform. is an online automobile search company whose parent company is Girnar Software.

"While we were working with our insurance partners so far, we weren't able to provide an end-to-end experience, because one part of the experience was owned by them," said Mr Ankur Agarwal, CEO, Car Owners Vertical at Girnar Software.

"We want to use our technology and auto experience to provide an end-to-end solution including the intent to buy, actual buying, renewals and claims."

The portal, which will also be rolled out as a mobile application in two months, has forged partnerships with insurance companies such as Iffco Tokio, General Insurance, HDFC Ergo, Royal Sundaram, Universal Sompo, and New India General Assurance to generate customised policies and enable instant

"Claims are the big pain point, so our focus is to take care of claims as much as we want to sell policies. We will also build pop-ups a month before expiry, so that customers don't miss out on renewals. These (three services) will be entirely managed by the mobile app which is not available anywhere in India," Girnar Insurance Brokers CEO Sanjeev Gujral said.
