India:National airline faces premium hike for 1st time in 4 years

Despite a hardening insurance market for airlines globally following some major tragedies this year, India's national carrier Air India has been able to renew its cover with just a 15% rise in premium for its fleet of 132 aircraft. This is the first time in four years that Air India has to pay a higher premium to renew its cover. The new rate was negotiated down from a 25% increase asked for by insurers.
