Northwestern University senior associate vice president and chief risk and compliance officer Luke Figora will be the 2019 RIMS risk manager of the year. The 2019 RIMS risk management honour roll also inducted Walmart vice president global risk management David Stills.
The honourees for 2019, Messrs Figora and Stills will be recognised at the RIMS 2019 annual conference and exhibition scheduled from 28 April to 1 May in Boston, USA later this year.
The risk manager of the year programme aims to raise the profile of the risk management profession and the outstanding programmes the honourees have implemented within their organisations. The programme was initiated in 1977 and the risk management honour roll was added in 1981.
Promotes a strong management programme
“Building a strong risk management programme demands a blended approach that effectively addresses exposures while also supporting new, value-generating initiatives,” said RIMS CEO Mary Roth.
“Luke Figora masterfully captures this focus at Northwestern University. His accomplishments have resulted in tremendous cost-savings and have paved the way for many wonderful educational opportunities for its students. It is an honour to present Mr Figora with the prestigious risk manager of the year award.”
