FT Asia Insurance Summit
Theme: “Forging strategies to manage evolving risks”
16 June 2022
Even before the pandemic shook the world’s economic, social and healthcare foundations, the insurance industry had begun to change. Traditional business and operating models were making room for the digitalisation of products and services that was sharpening the distribution chain and creating a greater understanding of the customer. Asia’s insurers had also begun to evolve risk-mitigation strategies for customers, shareholders and themselves, in the face of a real threat from climate change, and growing environmental, social and governance (ESG) concerns.
That has led to a transformation of management decision-making, including on investment allocation. How much should insurers invest in digital channels? How has the pandemic accelerated the pace of digitalisation? How viable would alternative business models be—for example, setting up venture-capital divisions to try out different ideas? In Asia’s complex, changing regulatory environment, what would be the best business and investment strategies for insurers? How is Asia’s insurance leadership meeting the challenge?
The ninth edition of the Financial Times’ Asia Insurance Summit will gather senior executives from the insurance, investment and services industries, as well as thought leaders from the technology and financial sectors, to examine how insurers are restyling themselves to meet risks in changing times.
