There has been an increase in the frequency and magnitude of securities class actions not only in the US, but also in Europe. Some countries in Asia are also looking to introduce class actions. In this article, Mr David Smyth, Managing Partner Hong Kong & China and Mr Antony Sassi, Senior Solicitor, both at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert of the Hong Kong office, look at some of the key recommendations made by the Law Reform Commission in Hong Kong on this issue and discusses their implications for insurers.
