The profit margins of insurance companies that offer the inclusive low-cost supplementary health insurance plan -- huiminbao ("Benefit the People" health insurance) -- are being squeezed as local governments in more parts of the country demand that the insurers meet a compensation rate of 90% or higher or offer improved benefits to buyers of such plans.
