Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Ms Defne Turkes as President and Managing Director of Liberty International Insurance (LII), the international division of Global Risk Solutions (GRS). Her appointment is effective 1 July 2026.
In her new role, Ms Turkes will lead strategic growth across commercial insurance internationally as well as retail markets in Asia. Turkes will directly report to GRS President Matthew Moore.
Ms Turkes has served as LII COO since 2024. She joined Liberty in 2006 as CFO in Turkiye, and has held various senior leadership positions in Asia.
She succeeds Mr Phil Hobbs, who has moved into the role of President of Underwriting, GRS.
