Aon obtains Japan brokerage licence, launches corporate broking arm

| 09 Jan 2026

Global insurance broker Aon announced on 7 January that it has secured a brokerage licence in Japan and launched a new corporate insurance broking division as part of its expansion in the market.

The commercial insurance brokerage unit will operate under Aon Solutions Japan Co, providing clients with corporate risk and insurance solutions, advisory services and advanced risk management capabilities.

The entity previously operated in Japan as a human capital solutions provider.

Aon Japan Co will continue to serve as a core pillar of the group’s operations in the country, supporting its broader insurance and advisory activities.

As part of its growth strategy, Aon has also opened a new office in Nagoya to enhance support for clients in central and western Japan and deliver more localised services.

Commenting on the development, Aon Japan president Tatsuya Yamamoto said the launch of the new brokerage business, alongside the strengthening of its insurance agency operations, creates a hybrid operating model that leverages the strengths of both.
