Southeast Asia is one of the most natural disaster-prone areas in the world. Casualties and losses continue to increase, both due to a changing climate, and due to growing concentrations of exposure in areas at risk. Earthquake and typhoon events contribute to large and extreme losses, whilst the widespread hazard of flood tends to drive the majority of attritional insured and economic losses.
