Thailand:Regulator looks to increasing access to insurance-related careers

| 29 Jan 2026

The Consumer Protection and Participation in Insurance Committee, under the Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC), has agreed to support approaches that increase access to insurance-related careers for people with disabilities.

The approach adopted will take into account job suitability, protection of rights and reducing barriers to entry into the profession.

The Committee discussed the subject at its first meeting for 2026, which was chaired by the OIC’s Secretary-General Chuchat Pramoonpol.

The panel also discussed the promotion of measures to ensure mandatory insurance coverage for a wider range of risks, through integrated cooperation with other government agencies, as well as ensuring victims of various accidents receive fair compensation.

In a statement, the regulator announced that the meeting focused on issues related to consumer protection in insurance, and also covered topics including measures to expedite assistance for policyholders and beneficiaries, enhancing the efficiency of the road accident victim protection system and how promoting public awareness of coverage can be improved.

The Committee is a specialised panel within the OIC, tasked with strengthening consumer rights, enhancing protection measures, and increasing public access to insurance.
