Hong Kong's Insurance Authority (IA) has granted authorisation for CNNC Captive Insurance, set up by the China National Nuclear Corporation.
This captive is the first one authorised in 2026, the IA said in a statement. This brings the total number of such companies based in Hong Kong to seven.
“Captives have already become a major component of enterprise risk management for global business corporations,” said IA CEO Clement Cheung.
“We are encouraged by the formation of CNNC Captive Insurance and will actively develop potential opportunities in the Chinese mainland as well as other parts of Asia.”
