Thai Reinsurance reported a 15% year-on-year increase in net profit to THB94m ($2.9m) in 2Q 2026, despite a 5% decline in reinsurance premium income to THB1.38bn.
The reinsurer attributed the lower premium income to a reduction in its health insurance portfolio amid higher claims and medical inflation. Its combined ratio improved to 85.2% from 85.8% a year earlier, while reinsurance profit rose 14% to THB91m.
Investment income increased 81% year-on-year to THB58m, supported by higher dividend income following changes to the company’s investment portfolio.
For the first half of 2026, net profit rose 336% to THB205m. Underwriting profit increased 230% to THB165m, while net investment income rose 75% to THB93m.
The company said it expects its performance in the second half of the year to remain in line with its 2026 target.
