Asia:FWD announces senior leadership appointments

FWD Group has announced senior leadership appointments, with Mr Alex Wong joining as Group Chief Actuary and Mr Knattapisit Krutkrongchai appointed as CEO. Mr David Junius will become Managing Director and Group CFO, effective 1 July 2026. He is presently Deputy Group CFO.

All appointments are subject to the relevant regulatory approvals.

Mr Wong replaces Mr Michael van Vuuren, who recently took up a new role at another company. Mr Knattapisit will assume his position upon Mr David Korunic’s upcoming retirement on 30 June 2026. Mr Junius will succeed Mr Sid Sankaran, who plans to relocate back to the US with his family.

Both Mr Sankaran and Mr Korunic will continue to provide counsel to FWD Group as advisors.

Mr Wong brings over 20 years of international life insurance experience to FWD Group. Most recently, he was Group Chief Actuary at HSBC Life. He is also an Executive Committee Member of the International Actuarial Association, Council Member and Past President of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and inaugural member of the Society of Actuaries Asia Employer Council.

Mr Knattapisit is a seasoned insurance executive with almost 30 years of experience. Most recently, he was CEO of Krungthai-AXA in Thailand. Prior to that, he worked with AIA in their Thailand and Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR business units.

Mr Junius has almost 30 years of experience, including CFO roles at Pearl Health, Cowbell Cyber and SiriusPoint, where he was also COO. Earlier in his career, he held various senior roles at AIG, including APAC CFO.
