Singapore: Organisers expect record attendance at SIRC next month

Source: Asia Insurance Review | Oct 2019

The number of already confirmed delegates for the Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) is significantly above last year and indicates yet another strong attendance, with an expected total of close to 3,000 visitors at the event which is set to take place from 29 October to 1 November.

With the theme: ‘Winds of Change’, the 16th SIRC is set to tackle the priority challenges facing the (re)insurance industry today with the emphasis on sustainability of both business and the environment and how the industry is being reshuffled. It will address pressing industry issues such as the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events caused by climate change, industry disruption and digital transformation, as well as the sustainability of the (re)insurance business model as operating margins narrow.

If you ever wondered how others see us – the opening address at this year’s SIRC is not to be missed. Momentum Capital CEO Tobias Poensgen, a professional institutional investor and asset manager, will share his deep insights on the sustainability and longevity of the (re)insurance business model.

Expert insights from industry leaders in the SIRC Deep Dialogue
Listen while two highly experienced and knowledgeable financial professionals share their views on the future of the industry. One from the perspective of an industry insider – one from the perspective of an investor in insurance and InsurTech.

The industry insider
Dominic Christian is global chairman, reinsurance solutions at Aon and brings an immense wealth of industry knowledge to the SIRC Deep Dialogue.

The investor
Tobias Poensgen is CEO at Momentum Capital, a single family office investment firm. He is involved in deal sourcing and transactions, is the head of the investment committee and leads the family office and sovereign wealth fund advisory services.
The SIRC Deep Dialogue will provide multifaceted perspectives on the future for the (re)insurance sector – from a seasoned industry insider and a sophisticated institutional investor – and will provide clues on how the (re)insurance sector will transform in a highly disrupted future.

Stellar cast of speakers
Other ‘not-to-be-missed’ sessions during the conference include unique inputs from such industry luminaries as Lloyd’s of London CEO John Neal, Allianz RE CEO Amer Ahmed, Guy Carpenter CEO, international James Nash, Trust Re Group CEO Talal Al Zain, Allianz CEO, property and casualty Asia Pacific Claudia Salem and Swiss Re group chief economist Jerome Haegeli.

Not to be missed
While prominent thought-leaders from inside and outside the industry share their insights and experience on these issues over three intensive conference sessions, thousands of bilateral business meetings will be held across meeting tables in the Lloyd’s Coffee House and the SweetSpot Café as well as in the private meeting rooms hosted by over 200 participating companies on the conference floor.

Launched in 1991, SIRC is the most important insurance event in Asia drawing leading insurers, brokers and reinsurers together to take stock of the reinsurance market and set the tone for the renewal season while exploring new opportunities for business cooperation.

Last year, the SIRC drew close to 1,000 delegates and over 1,500 meeting visitors from around 50 countries with more support from over 200 industry organisations as sponsors, exhibitors and hosts of meeting rooms and tables. The SIRC is organised by the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association and the Reinsurance Brokers’ Association, Singapore as co-organiser and Asia Insurance Review as the official media partner. A
