Thailand's insurance regulator, Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), has modernised its data infrastructure using solutions from NetApp.
Through this initiative the OIC hopes to speed up data processing, strengthen cyber resilience and support its shift towards digital and AI-enabled supervision. The NetApp data platform, which includes enterprise storage, is central to the OIC’s push towards digital transformation and sustainability, and its goal of becoming a digitally empowered, data-driven regulator.
Following the upgrade, the OIC reported faster data protection and recovery, with database backup times cut by more than 90%, reducing processes from hours to minutes without affecting core workloads. The new architecture also supports high availability and automated disaster recovery. Users also reported quicker access to and processing of data in core regulatory applications, which the OIC said was important for tasks such as analysing industry risk trends from claims data and supporting timely policy decisions.
