The Nepalese insurance regulator Nepal Insurance Authority has directed all life insurers in the country to organise insurance promotion programmes with practical knowledge at school level.
A recent news report in https://insurancekhabar.com/ said these programmes are to be conducted at secondary and higher secondary levels.
The Authority’s directive said the insurers should organise programmes in one school of each municipality in the designated districts and these programmes should reflect the need for insurance with practical knowledge about insurance.
In an earlier order in 2020 the Authority had asked the then 19 life insurers to spread awareness about life insurance in the rural areas of the country and had designated four districts each to all the then life insurers.
In the current scenario all the current 14 life insurers are required to organise at least one programme every month in the designated district and one programme in at least one school of each municipality. The Authority has given the responsibility of conducting insurance promotion programme in eight to 12 districts to the life insurers.
The life insurers organising the promotion programmes will have to submit the details of these programmes to the Authority on a quarterly basis.
