Proposed basic medical insurance reform will channel funds from individual accounts to communal pool

The Chinese government's plan to reform the Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance (UEBMI) scheme will redirect half of the contributions in the scheme's individual accounts-that amount to around CNY300bn annually-to the social accounts to reimburse more outpatient costs, says Fitch Ratings.
