Insurance penetration is low in tier-2 and tier-3 Indian cities

Only 30% of the participants in a survey in India's tier-2 and tier-3 cities currently own insurance policies. In the general insurance category motor insurance emerges as the most common insurance cover owned followed by health insurance policies. Over 60% of the participants hold life insurance covers.
