Philippines:HMO sector's net income triples in Q3 2025

The net income of health maintenance organisations (HMOs) in the Philippines tripled in the third quarter of 2025, reaching PHP?2.44bn ($41.4m) from PHP?800.9m recorded in the same period last year.

Data from the Philippine Insurance Commission also showed total revenues rising 22.59% to PHP?73.12bn, outpacing the growth in the HMO industry’s expenses, which increased 20% to PHP?70.63bn during the quarter.

The bulk of this revenue came from membership fees, which amounted to PHP?71.13bn, accounting for roughly 98% of the industry’s total revenues.

Commenting on the news, Philippine Insurance Commissioner Reynaldo A Regalado said, “The HMO industry delivered a commendable performance this quarter, with the majority of companies demonstrating stronger profitability and wider market reach. This underscores the industry’s continued reliability in supporting Filipinos’ healthcare needs.”
